New Piglets Born At Half Term!

Barley, Odds Farm Park’s popular black Kune Kune pig, has just given birth to a beautiful litter of piglets who can all be seen on your family day out through the window in the Tea Room.

With dad Arthur, a Gloucester Old Spot boar, the cross has resulted in the piglets being a variety of colours – some like mum and some like dad!   Born on Friday afternoon during Half Term, it was an extra lucky surprise for some visitors on their day out. Barley is quite protective at present, with all the piglets doing extremely well under mum’s careful eye.

And with the arrival soon of a Kune Kune boar, we hope Barley’s next litter will be pure Kune Kune piglets. New Whitefaced Woodland Ram Arrives at Odds Farm

Ozzie at Odds Farm

Those on a family day out at Odds Farm Park can now say hello to Ozzie, our new Whitefaced Woodland Ram. Ozzie is from Norfolk and his bloodline is one of the rarer ones so we will be helping to keep this line alive. His previous owners breed and show Whitefaced Woodland sheep and Ozzie’s dad has won prizes at many shows. Ozzie is very friendly and has a wonderful pair of curly horns for children to see on a day out.

The Whitefaced Woodland sheep are classed as ‘as risk’ by the Rare Breed Survival Trust and every year Odds Farm Park works hard to increase their numbers for kids on a day out to see. Whitefaced Woodland sheep are one of the largest breeds of hill sheep, with mature ewes weighing over 60kg. Other sheep at Odds Farm Park you can see on a day out include Castlemilk Moorit sheep, Greyface Dartmoor sheep, Jacob sheep, Herdwick sheep and Balwen Welsh Mountain sheep.
