Ozzie at Odds Farm

Ozzie at Odds Farm

Those on a family day out at Odds Farm Park can now say hello to Ozzie, our new Whitefaced Woodland Ram. Ozzie is from Norfolk and his bloodline is one of the rarer ones so we will be helping to keep this line alive. His previous owners breed and show Whitefaced Woodland sheep and Ozzie’s dad has won prizes at many shows. Ozzie is very friendly and has a wonderful pair of curly horns for children to see on a day out.

The Whitefaced Woodland sheep are classed as ‘as risk’ by the Rare Breed Survival Trust and every year Odds Farm Park works hard to increase their numbers for kids on a day out to see. Whitefaced Woodland sheep are one of the largest breeds of hill sheep, with mature ewes weighing over 60kg. Other sheep at Odds Farm Park you can see on a day out include Castlemilk Moorit sheep, Greyface Dartmoor sheep, Jacob sheep, Herdwick sheep and Balwen Welsh Mountain sheep.

Providing great family days out, Odds Farm Park can be easily reached from Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, North London and West London. To arrange a day out with the kids, their family days out website is www.oddsfarm.co.uk

Winsome at Odds Farm

Winsome at Odds Farm

Those on a family day out at Odds Farm Park can currently see Winsome again, a British White Bull who has returned to Odds Farm Park for the next 2 to 3 months.

Winsome visited the childrens farm last year and many of the British White Calves you’ll see on a day out with the kids are his sons and daughters. Winsome has won many competitions at Agricultural Shows and now many of his children are now Champion Award Winners too.

Winsome (whose ‘real’ home is the Wispers Herd in West Sussex) loves coming to Odds Farm Park for his Autumn break to see all the children on a day out.  All the British Whites at Odds Farm Park are all in our active breeding program, helping this ‘minority’ rare breed boost their numbers.

Providing great family days out, Odds Farm Park can be easily reached from Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, North London and West London. To arrange a day out with the kids, their family days out website is www.oddsfarm.co.uk

Goat Kids Go To New Homes

Goat at Odds Farm

Goat at Odds Farm

It is now time for some of the children’s farms new goat kids (that have been entertaining children on days out this Summer) to go as pets to their new loving homes.

This year, Odds Farm Park had over 60 goat kids born across all their breeds and, like every year, a few have been sold to customers following a day out with the kids and the remainder will go to small holdings elsewhere in the country.

If you are considering getting a goat as a family pet, firstly you must obtain an Agricultural Holding Number from the Rural Payments Agency [www.rpa.gov.uk 0845 603 7777 open Mon-Fri 8.30-5 and 9-5 Sat/Sun] which can take up to 3 weeks. The Odds Farm Park team always recommend visitors to do their research first through the internet, Defra’s Animal Health & Welfare Dept [www.defra.gov.uk] and breed societies as well as speaking to their local vet. Whilst making very cute, loving pets, goats are also extremely curious, adventurous and will sometimes eat everything in their path.

Families on days out at Odds Farm Park can see 7 different breeds of goats including the rare Bagot Goats, Anglo Nubian Goats, British Alpine Goats, English Goats, Golden Guernsey Goats, Pygmy Goats and Toggenburg Goats.

Odds Farm Park is an award winning childrens farm, providing an ideal family day out for those in Berkshire, Oxfordshire, North London, West London and Buckinghamshire. To visit the farm park days out website, visit www.oddsfarm.co.uk.

Donkeys Meet for the first time at Odds Farm

Donkeys Meet for the first time at Odds Farm

Children visiting on a day out at Odds Farm Park can now see the latest new arrival, a very cute female donkey.

Now 6 ½ years old she is fully grown and has come from Cotswold Farm Park where she was born. She has already been introduced to resident donkeys, Mary and Joseph and as you can see, they are all getting on extremely well. She hasn’t yet been named and if you come on a family day out before 1st November, you can enter our childrens farm competition to name her.

Donkeys come in all different colours and we are delighted to have our new donkey who is brown and white and not the usual grey. You will see though that she still has the distinct donkey cross on her back, have a good look when you next visit the farm.  She has an excellent personality and we are sure she’ll become very popular with kids on a day out.
