Cheep! Cheep! Cute Easter chick at Odds Farm Park

On a family day out, youngsters can now meet the first cute fluffy chick of 2010 within Odds Farm Park’s childrens farm. The new chick, born on 9 March, is a cross bred between the Light Sussex chicken and the Buff Orpington chicken and is now on show to those visiting on a day out in the brooder within the main barn.  Leading up to Easter, there are plenty more chicks due to hatch within the childrens farm for kids to see.

This Spring, those on a day out with the family, can also meet many other cute baby animals such as a new baby donkey, newborn lambs and even two beautiful Jersey calves. Plus with plenty of play, kids can discover the indoor Playbarn with Astra Slide, Bale Climb and Ride-on Toys and outside Go Karts and great Log Play Areas. It’s difficult to know what to do first on your day out!

Piper and her new son at Odds Farm Park

Piper and her new son at Odds Farm Park

At this childrens farm, resident donkey Piper has just given birth to a beautiful boy foal. The new arrival within the kids farm was born on 7 March 2010 and he is the same colouring as his mum. Looking like a huge cuddly toy, he is especially cute and mum Piper is proving to be fantastic mother. Families on a day out can meet Piper and her foal in the new Animal Barns within the childrens farm.

Piper arrived at Odds Farm Park last summer and, as donkeys are pregnant for between 12 and 14 months, nobody was exactly sure when the new foal would be born. The new baby donkey, like other young donkey foals, walked within hours and he will drink his mum’s milk for about six months, before starting to eat grass and hay.

Elsewhere at this quality childrens farm, those on days out can meet the other donkeys, explore the two new Animal Barns with many other baby animals and run wild in the Indoor Playbarn, complete with Astra Slide, Ride-on Toys and the Bale Climb. Parents can relax too in the heated Playbarn Gallery with a Soft Play Area for the little ones.

Jacob Lambs Aplenty

Hello! I'm. very pretty

Hello! I'm. very pretty

The Jacob sheep at Odds Farm Park must have known better weather was around the corner for those on family days out, with all the mums suddenly giving birth last weekend.

Over Saturday and Sunday two sets of twins and two single lambs were born, alongside even more births that happened earlier this week.

Jacob sheep are a very elegant looking breed and children on days out can recognise them by their curly horns and cuddly black/white coat.  The babies are usually on their feet within minutes of being born and can be seen jumping about within hours.

At this Kids Farm there are still plenty of lambs due to be born and, on a day out, children can help bottle feed the older lambs until the end of May.

Odds Farm Park provides an excellent family day out, easily reached from West London, London, Berkshire, North London, Buckinghamshire and Oxford.

New Friend For Amy

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Isn't he cute!

Just like children who visit Odds Farm Park on days out, all our furry friends like to make friends too. And within the childrens farm, Amy (now a couple of weeks old) has been joined by Alex (born a few days ago).

This is the second calf for Mum Missy, who  came to Odds Farm Park in January 2008 and Alex’s older sister Tinsel (now 1 1/2 years old) is still at Odds Farm Park.  With her beautiful eyes, Tinsel has become a farm park favourite for visitors on days out and no doubt, Alex will be popular as well during his stay.

Jersey cows are famous for producing excellent quality milk and you can see them in the cow milking demonstrations within the kids farm.  Adult Jersey cows will drink a bathtub of water daily and eat up to 40 pounds of food a day. Not surprisingly, therefore they spend 6 hours per day eating and a further 8 hours chewing their cud!  Look next time you visit on a day out and you’ll probably see them eating or chewing.

Award winning Odds Farm Park provides a fantastic family day out and is easily reached from West London, London, Berkshire, North London, Buckinghamshire and Oxford.
