Children on family days out can now see the first triplet lambs for 2010. All very cute, the new family are staying close to mum and are a ‘must see’ on your next day out with the kids. Over the next few weeks plenty more lambs are due, just in time for Easter.

Jacob sheep are intelligent, active animals with enquiring minds. Most sheep only have one or two lambs, however, Jacobs often have triplets or quads. Jacob sheep are usually excellent mothers and after birth, the baby lambs are on their feet within minutes.

From February Half Term youngsters on a day out at childrens farm Odds Farm Park can help the farmers bottle feed the cute lambs during the Bottle Feed Lambs activity in the Demonstration Barn twice daily at 11.30am and 3.30pm. The lambs are specially trained to drink from bottles, and children on a day out can get close to them with this fun hands-on experience.

On a day out with the family to this kids farm, children can meet plenty of cute farm animals and other activities currently taking place include the Goat Show, Piggies Tea Time, Cow Milking, as well as the Meet The Animals Show.

Santa has just given another early Christmas present to childrens farm Odds Farm Park. In the early hours of Monday 14 December, resident Jacob Sheep, Angel, gave birth to cute Christmas triplets and to coincide with the festive season the lambs have been named after the gifts from the three Wise Men, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. The new family is already on show and getting plenty of attention from those on days out at this childrens farm.

Plus, on Tuesday 15 December a single lamb was also born at this childrens farm and with another ewe still due to lamb, children on a day out might be lucky enough to see one born.

Said Clare Middleton, Livestock Manager at this kids farm; “We weren’t sure if the lambs would come before Christmas and are absolutely delighted. The new families are settling in well and are in the Main Barn for children to see.”

In addition to the baby lambs, days out for children also include numerous other farm animals and no visit is complete without a play in the Playbarn with the Bale Climb, Astra Slide and Ride-on Toys.

Odds Farm Park’s mascot Rodney Pig recently visited Santa’s Grotto and Santa, kick starting the Christmas Fun at this childrens farm. Being his first ever Santa visit, Rodney was extremely excited and loved meeting Father Christmas and taking home a wonderful toy.

Children on a day out at Odds Farm Park can meet Santa every weekend until 20 December, plus additionally from 21 until 24 December. Elsewhere at this childrens farm, kids on days out can scramble the Bale Climb, whoosh down the Astra Slide and board Ride-on Toys. During the Christmas season families visiting Odds Farm Park can enjoy free Festive Puppet Shows, with of course a very special Santa puppet. In total, there are five shows for kids to enjoy on their day out, at regular intervals throughout the day.

Alongside the fun Santa puppet, children can also meet Robbie the Reindeer and Mrs Christmas. The shows take place every weekend until 20 December and also include Yuletide Sing-Alongs and fun Christmas stories.

A visit to this childrens farm wouldn’t be complete at this time of year without a visit to Santa in his Magical Grotto (a charge is made to cover Santa’s Gift) and free Yummy Treats on the Christmas Tree in the Gift Shop.
