Ginnie The Berkshire Pig At Odds Farm Park
Ginnie The Berkshire Pig At Odds Farm Park

Great news!  Earlier this week family day out favourite, Odds Farm Park, welcomed the arrival of a Berkshire Pig named Ginnie!

Aged just over one year old, Ginnie has come from another farm in Surrey.  Extremely friendly, she is currently on show for visitors on a day out to see in the Undercover Animal Barns. It is almost 10 years since Odds Farm Park kept Berkshire Pigs and it is hoped that Ginnie will have her very first litter of piglets some time this year.

The Berkshire pig is the oldest recorded breed of pig in Britain and was rumoured to have been discovered by Oliver Cromwell’s army over 300 years ago.  The first recorded pig was a boar called “The Ace of Spades” which was owned by Queen Victoria and the breed has continued to be a firm favourite with the Royal Family, who for years kept a large Berkshire herd at Windsor Castle.
