New Litter Of Piglets For Odds Farm Park

Visitors to family day out favourite, Odds Farm Park, will be delighted to hear of the recent arrival of an adorable litter of piglets.  Born on Wednesday 12th September to mum Ginnie, a Berkshire Sow, and dad Will, a Tamworth Boar, the piglets are settling in well to life on the farm.

The birth was not without drama however as, whilst Ginnie was in labour, the second piglet was found to be blocking the others and so farmer Mel had to give her a helping hand.  All the piglets and mum can be seen by visitors on a day out at the top of the Dipple Field.

Visitors to the popular children’s farm will be interested to learn that Berkshire Pigs are rrumoured to have been discovered by Oliver Cromwell’s army over 300 years ago. The first recorded pig was a boar called “The Ace of Spades” which was owned by Queen Victoria. The breed has continued to be a firm favourite with the Royal Family, who for years kept a large Berkshire herd at Windsor Castle.

Elsewhere at Odds Farm Park, people on a day out can expect more exciting activities – board Tractor & Trailer Rides (until the end of October Half Term – weather permitting), race Go Karts and meet the Farmers and hand-feed furry friends in the large Undercover Animal Barns. Combined with a jam-packed Animal Activity and Demonstration Programme, there’s so much to do!

Plus, if it is raining on a day out, children will love to discover the Giant Indoor Playbarn, where they’ll find a massive adventure play area including 4 lane Astra Slide, 2 large drop slides, a netted area with zig zag chicanes & tunnels, swinging ropes and much more. With special Toddler and Under 5’s areas, there’s bags of fun for all ages. And adults can relax with a delicious speciality coffee from the Espresso Bar!

Odds Farm Park is easily reached from Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, Marlow and Henley. For more information, directions and prices visit the family days out website www.oddsfarm.co.uk
