The Ponies and Donkeys living at Odds Farm Park childrens farm have just had their hooves trimmed in their 8 week ‘end of summer’ visit by the Farrier. This special animal pedicure ensures their feet stay healthy and don’t become overgrown or cracked.

Unlike horses that go on public road, Odds Farm Park’s Ponies and Donkeys stay on the farm for children to meet and don’t need horseshoes. Take a look next time you visit on you day out with the kids. And during the winter, their hooves only need trimming every 10 weeks as they grow slower in cooler weather.

At Odds Farm Park, families on a day out can see three different kinds of ponies; the Eriskay Pony, the extremely cute Shetland Pony and the Exmoor Pony (whose breed dates back to the Roman Empire!)

Providing great family days out, Odds Farm Park can be easily reached from Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, North London and West London. To arrange a day out with the kids, their family days out website is www.oddsfarm.co.uk.

Furry Friends Built New Homes

New Animal Barns at Odds Farm

During the summer months at this children’s farm, the build of two new animal barns has been creating a bigger and better Odds Farm Park. Not only providing more indoor space for all the farm park’s Furry Friends, the new barns will also provide more undercover areas for those on family days out.

August and September were purposely chosen for the building work as the majority of goats, sheep, pigs, cows and horses are out in the fields for children to see on days out. And when the nights draw in, all the animals will be introduced to their new homes. The Animals Barns are nearing completion and will virtually treble the existing animal barn area. Great news for those on family days out!

This award winning childrens farm provides an ideal family day out and is easily reached from Berkshire, Oxfordshire, North London, West London and Buckinghamshire. To visit the farm park days out website, visit www.oddsfarm.co.uk

Bagot Goat Herd Grows

Four of the female Bagot Goat kids born this spring have now permanently joined the Odds Farm Park herd enabling them to call this childrens farm officially home.

Odds Farm Park has the second largest Bagot Goat herd in Britain and, with their black and white distinctive markings, children can easily spot the breed on their family day out.

With less than 200 breeding Bagot Goats left, they are as rare as an Orangutan or Sumatran Tiger and are classified as ‘Endangered’ by the Rare Breed Survival Trust. They are the rarest animal at this children’s farm to see on a day out with the kids. Currently outside enjoying the sunshine and paddocks, the Bagot Goats will be brought inside during the winter months ensuring all year round fun for kids on days out.

The Livestock team at Odds Farm Park have been very busy recently as all the goats in the childrens farm have just undergone their routine autumn vaccinations. The vaccinations help ensure they stay fit and healthy for kids to see on a family day out.

At Odds Farm Park youngsters can meet seven types of goats; Anglo Nubians, Bagots, British Alpine, English, Golden Guernsey, Pygmies (always a firm favourite for those on a day out with the kids) and Toggenburg Goats.

On family days out at Odds Farm Park you can even expect to meet some very famous goats. Two of the Toggenburg Goats, Sparkle and Crunchie, starred in the film Mamma Mia with Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. Now grown up and mothers themselves, see if you can find them while visiting the childrens farm.

Millie, the childrens farm’s Sheepdog, had her birthday on 26 August and received a very special celebration from children on a family day out. The fun festivities all took place during the daily ‘Meet The Animals’ show and Millie loved the extra attention she received.

Millie belongs to Clare, the Livestock Manager at the childrens farm, and accompanies her owner into Odds Farm Park every day. She is now 5 years old and whilst often helping behind the scenes, can sometimes be spotted on a day out with the kids. Millie loves meeting visitors on family days out, so do please come and say hello to her.

On Sunday 30 August in the Odds Farm Park’s childrens farm, 2 year old Belted Galloway Toast gave birth to Wally, a Belted Galloway cross British White. Wally’s dad was a visiting British White Bull called Winsome.  This is Toast’s first calf and she is being a very good mum, helped occasionally by her mother Honey who also lives at this farm park too. Very cute, Wally is now out playing with his friends in the fields for you to see on your next day out with the kids.

Alongside Belted Galloway and British White cattle, on a family day out you can also see Jersey and Highland Cows at this children’s farm, all of which are currently outside in the fields.  The Jersey cows are bought in during the winter months enabling children on a day out to see cows all year round.
