Celebrate our Rare Breeds!

Did you know that Odds Farm Park is one of only 20 Farm Parks throughout the UK which is approved by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust?

Daily from 9th until 30th September, join us in celebrating and recognising all of our Rare Breeds!  From the Middle White Pig and Balwen Sheep to the Exmoor Pony and British White Cow and many more, how many will you spot around the Farm to win a special prize?

Visitors to Odds Farm Park will be interested to learn that, founded in 1973, The Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) is a conservation charity whose aim is to secure the future of rare and native breeds of farm livestock in the United Kingdom.  Every year they collect data from breed societies and use the number of animals registered in a year to estimate the total number of breeding females. From this they produce their annual Watchlist.

Odds Farm Park is proud to be a registered Rare Breeds Farm Park.  Some of our animals are as rare at the Giant Panda or Sumatran Tiger, so we keep log books of all our rare breeds. This ensures females are selectively bred with males to maintain healthy blood lines. For more information about the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, visit www.rbst.org.uk

Farm Attraction of the Year 2017, Odds Farm Park is easily reached from Beaconsfield, Amersham, Chesham, Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe, Great Missenden and Wendover. For more information, directions and prices visit the family days out website www.oddsfarm.co.uk

MEET HERBIE!

So adorable! Meet one of Odds Farm Park’s newest arrivals, gorgeous Herbie! Born recently to proud mum, Acacia, Herbie is a Miniature Mediterranean Donkey.

Visitors will be interested to learn that Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys originate from the islands of Sardinia and Sicily. Much smaller than normal Donkeys, Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys grow to maximum height of 36 inches (at the age of 3 years) but most are under this height, at between 30 inches and 34 inches tall. The most common colour of a Miniature Mediterranean Donkey is grey dun with chocolate highlights. Other colours include brown, black, slate grey, sorrel, spotted, piebald, skewbald and cream.

Herbie isn’t the only new arrival to the farm in recent weeks. With the birth of two adorable Shetland Foals, cheeky Kid goats and greedy piglets, it’s been somewhat of a baby boom at the farm! Visitors will be pleased to learn they can see all the new residents in the Animal Paddocks or Undercover Animal Barns. Click Here to Learn More

Meet Adorable Horlicks!

Congratulations and Celebrations!  On Thursday 6th April, proud mum Cocoa gave birth to adorable Shetland foal, Horlicks!  The birth was a great success and both mum and son are bonding well.

Visitors will be interested to learn that Shetland Ponies originate from the Shetland Isles, located North East of mainland Scotland and excavations have revealed that they date back to the Bronze Age. With over 3,000 registered adult breeding females, Shetland Ponies are currently not classed as “rare” by the Rare Breed Survival Trust.

Horlicks is not the only new arrival to Odds Farm over recent weeks.  From cheeky piglets to adorable kid goats and fluffy lambs, there’s a real “Baby Boom” happening at the farm!

Visitors will be pleased to learn that they can meet the new arrivals in either the Undercover Animal Barns or outside Paddocks. And, with even more new arrivals expected over the coming weeks, you may be lucky enough to see a birth!

In addition to meeting the new arrivals, children on a day out will love to take part in the Daily Animal Activities and Demonstrations which are all supervised by the friendly Livestock Team as well as discover acres of Indoor and Outdoor Play.

Award Winning Odds Farm Park is easily reached from Beaconsfield, Amersham, Chesham, Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe, Great Missenden and Wendover.
