A new arrival awaits visitors on a day out to Odds Farm Park as staff at the popular visitor attraction recently welcomed the arrival of Anglo Nubian billy goat, Maximus!
Born in February, Maximus has recently relocated to Odds Farm Park and is settling in well in one of the paddocks,! Very friendly and extremely handsome, he will be ready to be introduced to the “ladies” in the Autumn!
The Anglo Nubian Goat was created in the UK at the end of the Nineteenth Century. It was developed by crossing goats in England with those arriving on Ocean Liners from the East; the goats were used to provide fresh milk during the voyage.
On a day out to Odds Farm Park, children can identify the Anglo Nubian Goat by their height (they are one of the tallest breeds of goat) and their long pendular ears. Many colour combinations are found which give some Anglo Nubian Goats very attractive mottled, marbled and tortoiseshell coats.

A super cute filly foal, Shetland cross Miniature Shetland named Farfallina has recently been born at family day out favourite Odds Farm Park.
Born to proud Mum, Treacle – a pure bred Shetland pony and Dad, Pongo – a Miniature Shetland pony, Farfallina is a gorgeous cream in colour and visitors on a day out will love to see her in the Paddocks! Visitors to the farm will also be interested to learn that Mum Treacle was also born at the farm in June 2002.
Both Treacle and cheeky Farfallina are doing very well and looking forward to meeting visitors on a day out at the farm!

Just over a week old, new arrival Florrie the Highland calf is settling in well to life at children’s farm, Odds Farm Park. Born on Wednesday 22 April to proud mum Brave, Florrie is enjoying life on the farm!
Visitors to the farm this Bank Holiday Weekend can see Florrie and Brave in the Dipple Field Paddocks and will be interested to learn that Highland Cattle are one of Britain’s oldest, most distinctive, and best known breeds. They are easily recognisable by their long, thick coat of rich hair and Brave has majestic sweeping horns.
Families on a day out will also be delighted to learn that there has been somewhat of a Baby Boom prior to the Bank Holiday at Odds Farm Park! As well as the arrival of Florrie, the past week has seen piglets, kid goats and yet another calf born on the farm!

Having recently been given a fantastic Go Pro Camera, the Farmers at family day out favourite Odds Farm Park have had great fun filming some of the animals on the farm.
The first to get film star treatment was adorable Erol. Born at the farm on 3rd September 2014 to mum Connie, a British White Cow, Erol has always been inquisitive and when the camera was put in his paddock, it was no exception! Visitors to children’s farm, Odds Farm Park will be delighted to meet new arrival Floss! Born to mum Africa, Floss is one of a set of triplets and has two brothers – Fred and Frank. Visitors will be interested to learn that she is the first female Golden Guernsey kid to be born at the farm this year and will be joining the Odds Farm Park Golden Guernsey herd.
With between 501-1,000 breeding nannies registered in the UK, the Golden Guernsey Goat is classed as a Minority Breed by the Rare Breed Survival Trust and so Odds Farm Park are hoping that one day, Floss will have kid goats of her own!
Children on a day out at Odds Farm Park will recognise a Golden Guernsey goat by its golden colour, with shades ranging from pale blond to deep bronze. They are smaller and more fine-boned than other British milking goats, and there is great variety in coat length. Being so friendly, children will love meeting them. Golden Guernsey Goats are also very quiet, docile and friendly goats for children to meet on a day out.
The exact origin of the Golden Guernsey is uncertain, though it is believed that they have French, Syrian and Maltese ancestry. They arrived in the UK in 1965 from Guernsey and the first reference to them on The Channel Islands is from an 1826 tourism guide book.
