Odds Farm Park’s Charity Mascot Race took place on Friday 21 August at 1pm, much to the delight of visitors on their family day out. With four eager mascots taking part, all wanting to win, the contestants included Sting from London Wasps; Bertie Bear from Slough’s Snakes and Ladders; Shaggy from Leighton Buzzard’s Mead Open Farm and of course, the ‘day out with the kids’ favorite, Rodney Pig from Odds Farm Park.
After plenty of cuddles from children on their day out, the race around the Sheep Race Track was soon underway. Jumping over miniature jumps wasn’t easy for their massive feet, and Shaggy the Cow soon developed a short lead, however, he was piped at the post by Cheeky Rodney Pig (who took a short cut!). Sting came in a close third, followed by Bertie Bear taking up the rear.
Visitors could guess the winning mascot and win great prizes. An annual ticket for a family of 4 to Odds Farm Park; a family day out to Mead Open Farm; a family day out to Snakes & Ladders and a family ticket to watch the London Wasps Rugby Team on 30 September. The list of winners has been put up in the Playbarn.
Much fun was had by all and £139.06 was raised by the visitors on their day out and made up to £200 by Odds Farm Park for the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust. Based in Slough, they are raising funds to build a new children’s hospice.
